Being a Celebrant means so much to me, in so many ways, and when people ask why I chose this path I could enthuse for hours in interested company.
Here are my (slightly more succinct) Super Seven reasons why I love being a celebrant:
- Connecting with People: As a celebrant, I am privileged to meet so many different people and to hear their stories of life, love and hope. I get to see life from various personal perspectives and it makes me appreciate our shared humanity.
- Showing I Care: Being kind, compassionate and caring is how I contribute to making the world a better place. My role as a celebrant aligns perfectly with this, as it is all about allowing people to express their emotions (joyful or mournful) and supporting them when needed.
- Embracing Diversity: I love learning about different people’s life experiences, perspectives and choices, including cultural, spiritual and religious practices. I delight in creating ceremonies that celebrate individuality and build shared understandings.
- Being Creative: Ceremony planning and personalised script writing always makes my soul happy, as it is a chance to creatively capture and share people’s beautiful, special and unique character and stories.
- Celebrating Life’s Milestones: Whether it’s a funeral, wedding, vow renewal or naming ceremony – I relish the opportunity to facilitate memorable moments of connection and celebrate significant occasions in people’s lives with family, friends and the community.
- Being Part of Team: I count myself extremely fortunate to have met so many fabulous celebrants and other wedding and funeral professionals, and to be part of several networks of mutually supportive and caring colleagues.
- Treasuring Life: I find it deeply rewarding to help people plan a fitting ceremony to mark their significant milestones in life, and to represent them when presenting their ceremony. Sharing these moments is an honour that always makes me grateful for all the gifts and special people in my own life too.
