Working With Me

A Little About Me

I’ve always been curious about people, the experiences that shape them, and the many different ways we find meaning, belonging and connection in our lives. Growing up in South Africa with a Cornish father and Scottish mother, I was surrounded by different cultures, traditions and perspectives, which sparked an early interest in people and their stories.

I’ve now called Scotland home for more than half my life and live beside the beautiful East Lothian coast. You’ll often find me walking beside the river at dawn, dipping in the sea with friends, or exploring the local coastline. Time spent outdoors helps me feel grounded, inspired and connected to what matters most.

Before becoming a celebrant, I spent more than thirty years supporting children and families as a volunteer, parent, nursery practitioner and primary teacher. Much of that time was spent working with children with additional support needs and their families, helping them feel included, supported and able to participate fully in school life. Those years taught me the importance of listening carefully, understanding different perspectives and recognising what makes each person unique.

Those experiences, together with a love of meaningful conversations, creative writing and meeting people from all walks of life, eventually led me to celebrancy: a role that brings together everything I value about creativity, compassion and supporting people through life’s important milestones.

What Guides My Work

I’m often asked what it’s like to work with me. Rather than explain it, I wrote this poem to capture the spirit of the journey we’ll take together.

Creating a ceremony is always a partnership. You bring your memories, ideas, wishes and hopes for the future. I bring experience, structure, creativity and guidance.

Together, we’ll create something that feels authentic, meaningful and true to you.

Kind Words

Although the ceremonies I create are wonderfully varied, the feedback people share often highlights the same things: feeling listened to, supported, understood and cared for throughout the process.

“Fleur is professional, respectful, gentle and kind and a wonderful listener which allowed the creation of the perfect send off for my mum… Working with Fleur was easy, just what you need during these times of grief.”

I’m always grateful when people take the time to share their experience. If you wish, you can read more reviews on my Google Reviews page.

If you feel we might be a good fit, I’d love to hear from you.
